There are as many brownie recipes as there are cricket species. Probably more. Nearly all of them pair nicely with crickets because rich flavors like cocoa and nuts complement the earthiness of the powder. This is our basic, textbook brownie recipe with a healthy cricket powder kick.
This is another recipe where you'll hardly notice the cricket powder, but I say that a lot :-) That's because cricket powder is so versatile, and we recommend beginning your journey with smaller amounts as you introduce your friends and family to something new.
This is a basic fudgy brownie recipe with cricket powder added for additional flavor and nutrition. It's simple and tasty, and a good textbook brownie. You can adjust the amount of cricket powder to your taste, it won't appreciably impact the final product.
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Line an 8” x 8” pan with parchment paper to make removal easier. Grease the paper.
Mix the butter and sugar in a bowl and until the butter melts the sugar and the mixture comes together.
Add the eggs, water, and vanilla extract and whisk for a minute or two.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients. Cocoa powder, powdered sugar, flour, cricket powder, and salt.
Add the dry ingredients to the butter/sugar mixture a big spoonful at a time, until all are mixed and the batter looks glossy and delicious.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
Pour the batter into the pan and slide it into the oven.
Bake until internal temp at the center reads 180 to 190 degrees, or desired doneness. Brownies will be more cake-like at 210 degrees, and anything higher than that will be dried out.
